Two culverts closed: Schools flooded for two months , students suffering in Lakshmipur

Alamgir, son of Nur Nabi of Rutiwar Bari, has been accused of blocking two government culverts in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur. This has caused waterlogging in a village for a long time.
The courtyard of Shiksha Gram Government Primary School in Ward No. 5 of Charlorench Union has been submerged in water. Local residents, including teachers and students of the school, have been suffering in such a situation for almost four months.
Locals have alleged that the water flow of two government culverts connected to the MP canal branch has been blocked by dams. In this incident, a complaint has been filed against Alamgir, son of Nur Nabi of the Ruti Wala family. However, his statement regarding the complaint is not known.
It can be seen on the ground that the school yard is knee-deep in water. Students have to cross the water to get to and from school. Many times, books and notebooks get wet due to carelessness and fall into the water. As the school grounds are submerged in water, students are also deprived of sports and normal entertainment.
Teachers said that the school grounds are not only a place for children to play, but also an important part of their normal growth. But due to waterlogging for a long time, that environment has also been lost. The presence of water inside and in the school yard is disrupting the movement of students and normal teaching.
Assistant teachers of the school, Makshudur Rahman and Nasima Akter, and headmaster Fakhrul Islam said that water has not been drained for a long time due to the closure of two government culverts. The houses around the school, including the school, are submerged in water. It is necessary to open the two culverts quickly and make arrangements for the movement of water.
Meanwhile, local residents have also expressed anger over the waterlogging. They demand that the long-standing waterlogging be resolved by opening the water flow path of the government culverts immediately. At the same time, they have demanded that legal action be taken against those responsible for the closure of government facilities by investigating the allegations.
Charlorench Union Acting Chairman Mizanur Rahman said he did not know who had blocked the government culvert. However, if a written complaint is received, necessary action will be taken to open the dam and the matter will be investigated.
Teachers, students and locals hope that the concerned Upazila Primary Education Officer and Union Parishad will look into the matter seriously and urgently. They demand that water drainage be made available to restore the normal movement and play environment of children in schools.
