Advocacy meeting on promotion, empowerment of women's leadership in decision-making process in Satkhira

Advocacy meeting was held with local government and concerned authorities on promotion and empowerment of women's leadership in decision-making process in Satkhira on Monday at 10 am.
 
An advocacy meeting was held with local government and concerned authorities on promotion and empowerment of women's leadership in decision-making process in collaboration with ActionAid Bangladesh and implemented by the non-governmental development organization CDOW.
 
The Chief Executive of CDOW, Shyamal Kumar Biswas, presided over the event and Fatema Zohra, Program Officer of the District Women's Affairs Department, spoke as the chief guest.
Md., One Stop Crisis Cell, Satkhira Sadar Hospital, spoke as the guest of honor at the advocacy. Abdul Hai, Administrative Officer of Fingri and Braksharajpur Union Parishad Md. Alkaz Ali, Reserved UP Member of Fingri Union Parishad Rebecca Sultana, Reserved UP Member of Braksharajpur Union Mosha: Moyna Khatun, UP Member Md. Kamruzzaman, Family Planning Inspector of Fingri Union Mehedi Hasan, Suspended Female Councilor of Satkhira Municipality Anima Mondal, Director of Satkhira Cyber Crime Alert Team Sheikh Mahbubul Haque, Journalists and Youth Members.
 
The welcome speech was delivered by CEO of CDOW Organization Shyamal Kumar Biswas. Project Coordinator Md. Tahiduzzaman (Tahid) presented the project activities and program goals and report. Also speaking were Hroday Mondal, President of Prantik Jubo Sangh, members Imti Jamil, Shreya Sardar and Arafat Hossain, members of Lal Golap Jubo Sangh, Halima Khatun, member of Swapna Sidi Jubo Sangh, Shahnaz Parveen, member of Karnaphuli Jubo Sangh.
 
The objective of the advocacy was to create awareness at the community level by presenting the implemented initiatives to encourage youth and women empowerment and leadership development. To connect youth and women with government service institutions and create opportunities for participation in various platforms. 
 
To encourage young women to take leadership roles and become entrepreneurs for self-reliance. The youth's demand from the advocacy was that by presenting various initiatives implemented by young women, public service authorities would be visible and others would be encouraged. To establish strong connections between youth/women and local government service providers, which would improve the opportunities for participation in support services and decision-making platforms. Involving young women in the decision-making process in the Union Parishad and formal committees.
 
The topics discussed in the dialogue were, what can be the leadership positions of young women? What are the barriers to women's leadership? What are the ways to remove the barriers? What are the roles of different sector actors in removing the barriers? What can be the roles of different sector actors (i.e. family, community, journalists, civil society, local government and administration) in removing external barriers to women's leadership: What are the opportunities and facilities available in the current society for young women's leadership? The speakers provided guidance on such topics. Women can lead in family decision-making, women can lead in various social activities, and they can participate in political activities and lead in the decision-making process.
 
The entire program was moderated by Project Coordinator Md. Tahiduzzaman (Tahid), and was also attended by ActionAid Bangladesh's Inspector Suman Acharya, Program Officer Chandra Shekhar Halder, Fellow Shaon, and others.
