A total of 71 fire incidents occurred in different areas of Cumilla district in the month of March. In that month, 7 people were killed, 20 people were killed in road accidents, 19 cases were registered in cases of abuse of women and children.

This information is known from the minutes of the meeting of the district law and order committee for the month of April in the conference room of Cumilla District Commissioner's office on Tuesday. Cumilla Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Khandkar Mu. Cumilla City Corporation Mayor Tahsin Baha Souchna, District Police Superintendent Abdul Mannan and other members of the committee participated in the meeting chaired by Mushfiqur Rahman.

It is also known from the minutes of the meeting that 168 cases were registered under the Narcotics Act in March. 68 lakh 38 thousand 250 rupees fine has been collected in 374 cases by operating 172 mobile courts in order to maintain law and order. In these mobile courts, three people have been imprisoned and 39 people have been sentenced to imprisonment and fines in two cases. A fine of Tk 24 lakh 95 thousand has been paid in 41 cases in 44 raids under the Good Environment and Soil Management Act.

At the 71 fire meeting in Cumilla in March, the newly elected Cumilla City Mayor Tahsin Bahar discussed various problems and solutions of the Cumilla city with the members of the law and order committee and hoped for their cooperation.

At this time, he asked for sufficient cooperation from the district administration and police department and other related departments to resolve the traffic congestion in the city and said that we will work on the traffic system of the city first.A meeting will be held next month to decide what we want to do.

District Magistrate and District Commissioner Khandkar Mu presided over the meeting. Mushfiqur Rahman said, we all have to be careful about the upcoming upazila parishad elections. In the first phase, the four upazila parishad elections will be held-we want every election to be fair. We want to hold the upcoming elections in the same way that we were able to complete the 12th National Assembly elections and the Cumilla City Corporation elections smoothly.

Therefore, if anyone tries to disrupt the law and order, the administration will be forced to be strict against them.
