There is a clear message from the government and political parties to keep this election free from influence.

However, some of the party people and local MP-ministers obey the instructions. I do not understand how the president of a party is disobeying the instructions of the prime minister of the government.

Election Commissioner Brigadier General Ahsan Habib Khan (Retd) made such a comment. He made this comment in reply to the questions of the journalists at the end of the election code of conduct and exchange of views meeting at the conference room of Chuadanga District Commissioner comprising four districts on Monday afternoon.

Can the Election Commissioner take measures to remove the influence of MP-ministers in local elections? In response to such question, he further said, we have to protect our own honor. Party constitution should be followed. But if the voters are not influenced then no influence will be useful. However, obstructing the voters will result in a maximum jail term of 7 years.

Regarding the candidates, EC Ahsan Habib Khan said, we do not have any high voltage or low voltage among the candidates. It will be eradicated only if an untoward incident is attempted on polling day. Will not work with any voltage. People have to love, they have to ask for votes, only then they will get votes. Apply voltage to the machine.

Journalists can enter the polling station without hindrance and collect news. EC Habib also warned that action will be taken against anyone who obstructs it.

Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner was present in the election code of conduct and discussion meeting. Kissinger Chakma, Police Superintendent RM Faizur Rahman, Meherpur District Commissioner Shamim Hossain, Police Superintendent SM Nazmul Haque, Jhenaidah District Commissioner SM Rafiqul Islam, Police Superintendent Azim Ul Ahsan, Kushtia District Commissioner Ehetesham Reza and Police Superintendent AHM Abdur Rakib along with Electoral Officers and contesting candidates of four districts were present.
