Technical and Vocational Education Week 2024 has started at Sylhet Polytechnic Institute like every year with the theme 'Smart Education Smart Country, Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh' through colorful arrangements. Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Zakir Hossain Khan, PPM, inaugurated the four-day technical and vocational education week by flying doves and balloons as symbols of peace at Sylhet Polytechnic Institute campus on Sunday (April 28) at 9:30 am. Principal of Sylhet Polytechnic Institute, Mohammad Rihan Uddin presided over the programme.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Zakir Hossain Khan said that there is no alternative to technical education, the more technical education is spread, the faster it will become a developed and prosperous country.

After the inauguration, students of Sylhet Polytechnic Institute and students of various technical educational institutions participated in the flood-proof rally. The rally circled the important roads of the city and ended at the Sylhet Polytechnic campus. Later, parent conference and lab work inspection was completed at Sylhet Polytechnic Institute.

Alimul Ehsan Chowdhury, managing director of Alim Industries, in the speech of the chief guest at the parent conference, said that the students of all technical education institutions, including diploma engineering students, should be trained with the latest technology in keeping with the times. Under the chairmanship of Sylhet Polytechnic Institute Principal Mohammad Rihan Uddin, President of Sylhet District Branch of Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh Engineer Mahmudur Rashid Masroor spoke as a special guest in the parent conference. About a hundred parents were present here.

It may be noted that Sylhet Polytechnic Institute has announced a four-day program on the occasion of Technical and Vocational Education Week which has started across the country. On the second day of the program (April 29), a special seminar aimed at expanding technical education will be held. On the same day, a memorandum of understanding signing ceremony will also be held between the industrial factories.

On the 3rd day (April 30) a job fair will be held with the participation of students from reputed industries and all technical educational institutions of Sylhet division. From where more than hundred job aspirants are supposed to be given jobs through direct interview.

On the concluding day (02 May) the four-day event will be announced with a spectacular cultural programme.
