3 Bangladeshi nationals including 'Aadhaar ' card holder detained on return from New Delhi

On their way back from New Delhi, India, via  Meghalaya border route, three Bangladeshi nationals, including an 'Aadhaar' card holder, have been detained by the Border Guard Battalion (BGB) on Wednesday.

 They were handed over to Doarabazar Police Station in Sunamganj after a case was filed.

The detainees are: Dulal Mia alias Ahona (third gender), son of Shamsu Mia of Fatullah in Narayanganj district headquarters; Jibon alias Ratri (third gender), son of Ansar Ali of Bandar Residential Area in Bandar upazila of the same district; and Liton Mia alias Payel (third gender), son of Khelu Mia of Madhyapara in Brahmanbaria district town.

On Wednesday evening, Lt. Colonel A.K.M. Zakaria Kadir, commander of Sunamganj 28 Border Guard Battalion under BGB Sylhet Sector, stated that the three (third gender) citizens were detained by the BGB patrol team of the Pakpara BOP when they entered Bangladesh from Meghalaya, India, through the Pepra border area of Doarabazar. Indian Aadhaar cards were found in the possession of two of the detainees.

In initial interrogation by BGB, the detainees stated that they had been living in New Delhi, India, for the past 7 to 8 years. The three (third gender) individuals used to earn their livelihood there through dancing and singing.
