Tributes paid to martyr Bir Shrestha Munshi Abdur Rauf in Rangamati

BGB Rangamati Sector Commander Colonel Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain, PBGM, PSC, laid wreaths and paid tributes at the grave of martyr Bir Shrestha Munshi Abdur Rauf located in Naniarchar.
On the occasion of the great Victory Day on Monday , a humble tribute was paid to the martyrs of the great Liiberation War of 1971 by laying wreaths at the grave of martyr Bir Shrestha Munshi Abdur Rauf, who made the supreme sacrifice in the great war of independence.
At the tribute ceremony, a smart and well-equipped guard team led by Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanzilur Rahman Bhuiyan provided a guard of honor, and all those present respectfully remembered this sun child of the nation with the final tune of the bugle.
On this occasion, the Rangamati Sector Commander said, today is the great Victory Day, December 16. This day is a unique and unforgettable day in the history of the Bengali nation. During the Great Liberation War, on April 20, 1971, while in a defensive position in the Chengri Canal of Burighat area of Naniarchar Upazila of Rangamati Hill District, he shot 02 launches and 01 speedboat of the Pakistani invading force with a machine gun and sank them in the river.
As a result of his heroic bravery, the Pakistani invading force was forced to retreat. Later, the great fearless hero was martyred at this place by the mortar fire of the Pakistani invaders. And it was through this great sacrifice that our hard-earned independence was achieved. The Bangladesh government awarded him the highest title of 'Bir Shrestha' for his heroic sacrifice.
At that time, Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanzilur Rahman Bhuiyan, various senior officials of BGB and local journalists, along with people from various professions, were present at the event.
