The Great Victory Day was celebrated in the glorious history and spirit of the Liberation War in Galachipa. Various programs will be held throughout the day including wreath laying at the freedom fighters memorial, felicitation of freedom fighters, discussions, processions and cultural programs.

On Monday (December 16) morning, Galachipa upazila administration initiated the celebration of Great Victory Day. Victory Day is heralded by firing 31 cannons every day. Later, the local administration, political parties, freedom fighters, various public and private institutions, educational institutions, social and cultural organizations paid tribute to the brave martyrs by laying wreaths at the freedom fighter monument. Meanwhile, in the ceremony organized on the field of Bangladesh Turkey Friendship School, the victory fair was inaugurated by flying doves and balloons as a symbol of peace after hoisting the national flag in the ceremony of welcoming the family members of the brave freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters. During the discussion, the speakers urged to spread the spirit of liberation war among the young generation. In the afternoon a friendly football match was organized at the local stadium and in the evening a cultural program based on the Liberation War was organized with the participation of children. The cultural program will feature patriotic songs, dances and plays performed by local artistes. Among the various events, there was also painting and writing competition for children and teenagers.

Prizes will be distributed among the winners of various competitions at the end of the event. Besides, to make the Great Victory Day grand on December 16, various buildings including public and private buildings of the city were illuminated with red and green lights and flags were hoisted. Besides, victory rally was held by political parties BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and Gana Odhikar Parishad in the upazila town.

On the 54th anniversary of the victory, there was an awakening of the spirit of the liberation war and a joyful atmosphere throughout Galachipa. This event will be a milestone with the participation of the new generation and highlighting the glorious history of the Liberation War.
