Reception honouring Ekushey Padak recipient Prof Dr Abdus Sattar in Baraigram

A civic reception was accorded to Professor Dr. Abdus Sattar, an illustrious son of Baraigram Upazila in Natore and a recipient of the prestigious Ekushey Padak on Saturday at Baraigram Pilot High School playground.
Prof Dr. Abdus Sattar is the son of the late Nazir Uddin Sarkar of Chak Baraigram. He is a former student of Baraigram Pilot High School and served as the former Chairman of the Department of Fine Arts and Oriental Art at the University of Dhaka.
On the occasion, a discussion meeting was held with former Principal of Baraigram Government Honors College, Md. Afsar Ali, in the chair. The keynote speaker was local Member of Parliament Alhaj Md. Abdul Aziz. Special guests included Rahim Newaz, Administrator of Natore Zila Parishad and Convener of Natore District BNP; Baraigram Upazila Nirbahi Officer Laila Jannatul Ferdous; former Mayor of Baraigram Municipality Md. Ishaq Ali; former Municipal Administrator Advocate Shariful Haque Mukta; Convener of the Reception Implementation Committee Shafiul Hasan Titu; Member Secretary Rashidul Islam; and Monir Hossain, among others.
During the event, speakers demanded the division of Natore’s Baraigram Upazila into two separate upazilas named Baraigram and Bonpara. Chief Guest Advocate M. Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu, Whip of National Parliament, expressed his solidarity with the long-standing demand of the people of Baraigram and assured his full support for the establishment of two separate upazilas—Baraigram and Bonpara.
