The inauguration and discussion meeting of the National Fisheries Forum-2026 was held in Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi. The event was organized on Sunday morning at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium under the initiative of the Upazila Fisheries Department.

The program was presided over by the newly-joined Bagha Upazila Executive Officer, Toki Faisal Talukder. The program was moderated by Upazila Disability Affairs Officer, Munsur Rahman, and Rajshahi District BNP convener and Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat) MP Abu Said Chand was present as the chief guest. The main discussant was Upazila Fisheries Officer, Tohura Haque.

Speakers at the meeting highlighted the importance of the fisheries sector in the country's economy, nutrition and employment. At the same time, emphasis was placed on increasing fish production, cultivating fish in modern and environmentally friendly methods, and raising awareness about conserving fisheries resources.

Also present at the event were Bagha Upazila BNP convener Fakhrul Hasan Bablu, member secretary Ashraf Ali Molin, Bagha Municipality BNP president Kamal Hossain, general secretary Tofiqul Islam Tofi, organizing secretary Abdul Latif, leaders and activists of BNP and allied organizations of various unions, and officials and employees of various departments of the upazila administration.

Abu Said Chand said, "The fisheries sector is playing an important role in the country's economy and meeting the nutritional needs of the people. Along with increasing fish production, everyone must be responsible in conserving fish resources. Fishermen must be made more skilled through modern technology and training."
