
Headmaster beats up student while praying in Bhandaria

Acting headmaster Shyamal Krishna Mistry has been accused of beating and injuring a ninth-grade student named Ziyad Hossain Rifat for leaving his classroom to go to prayer in Bhandaria, Pirojpur.
The incident took place on Tuesday (September 2) afternoon at Bothla Secondary School in the upazila.
According to local sources, during the school's classes, several students, including Jihad, a 9th grader, went to the designated place for school prayers to offer the Zuhr Sunnah prayer. At that time, the acting headmaster of the school, Shyamal Krishna Mistry, went to the prayer place and first whipped Ziyad while he was prostrating. At that time, the other students left the prayer place. After a while, when the matter spread to the school campus, they started protesting. At that time, the acting headmaster of the school, Shyamal Krishna Mistry, apologized to everyone. Meanwhile, when the matter came to light, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rehena Akhter warned the acting headmaster not to let such incidents happen again in the future.
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Jahangir Hossain said, "After hearing the matter, I have presented the headmaster before the Upazila Executive Officer, who will make a decision."
The accused, Shyamal Krishna Mistry, the acting headmaster of Bothla Secondary School, said, "I went to the school prayer room before prayer time and saw 15/16 students in a chaotic situation. At that time, I beat up a student named Jihad."
