 Maulana Abdul Halim, one of the Assistant Secretary Generals of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Regional Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur region, said that for the sake of the blood of the martyrs of the July Uprising, the next elections must be held through justice, reform and PR system.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting organized by the Mithapukur Upazila branch of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Rangpur district at the Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami office on Thursday afternoon.

Maulana Abdul Halim said that the next elections are not possible without the PR system for the participation of all parties and for fair elections. In the consensus commission, 26 political parties of the country have demanded and proposed the National Assembly elections through the PR system. He expressed optimism that it will be possible to form a government acceptable to the people through this method of fair competition in the election process.

Maulana Abdul Halim said,” In the next election, the votes of Islamic forces from all classes and professions will be united in favor of Islam in the same box, God willing. Everyone must work together for the good of the country against the fugitive and defeated fascism.”

The meeting, chaired by Jamaat-e-Islami Mithapukur Upazila Branch Ameer Asaduzzaman Shimul, was attended by Jamaat-e-Islami Central Majlis-e-Shura member, Rangpur District Branch Ameer and Jamaat-e-Islami's nominated National Parliament candidate for Rangpur-5 Mithapukur constituency, Professor Golam Rabbani. Jamaat-e-Islami's Rangpur District Secretary Maulana Enamul Haque, Islami Chhatra Shibir Rangpur District Branch President Firoz Mahmud and others, spoke at the rally.

Prof Golam Rabbani said at the rally that if the people of the country give Jamaat-e-Islami the responsibility of running the country, then we are ready. In Mithapukur Upazila, like in the past, in the future too, people from all walks of life, including students, youth, farmers, and workers, will elect Jamaat-e-Islami's candidate, Insha'Allah. We want to ensure victory with the cooperation of all.
