Senior assistant teacher of a secondary school  Nur Azam Chowdhury Jadu has allegedly  illegally occupied  a shophouse built on the possession of government-registered property owned by an educational institution, making secret agreements and extracting rent by force of power and muscle at Jaldhaka in Nilphamari. 

 

The complaint was made by the principal of the educational institution, Tariqul Islam on August 22, 2025. 

 

The sensational incident took place at Nekbakta School and College in Dauabari Union of Jaldhaka Upazila. According to the complaint on June 9, 1969, the Nekbakta Junior High School, which is now known as Nekbakta School and College (recognized), donated 45 percent of the land out of 3 acres of land measuring 5439 dagas in the name of Nekbakta School and College and 45 percent of the land for the school's playground, a total of 90 percent of the land, was donated by the donor, the late Shah Alam Chowdhury. Outside the wall, on the north side of the wall, inside the school's Mulgate, on the west side, the possession of the shophouse is 35 percent of the land measuring 5437 dagas in the possession of the school. 

 

The owner of which is Mrs. Mina Rani Chowdhurani of the neighboring Dimla Upazila. According to the source, the educational institution has a total of 80 percent of the land, including the infrastructure buildings and walls. Of this, 45 per cent was given by the donor Shah Alam Chowdhury and 35 per cent was given to the "A" branch of the traditional religion Mina Rani Chowdhurani, totaling 80 per cent of land. It is known that there is some space in the playground outside it. Tariqul Islam, principal of Nekbakta School and College, complained that after the mass uprising on August 5, senior assistant teacher Noor Azam Chowdhury Jadu, whose index number is 1030438/-, forcibly occupied the land including 5 shops owned and occupied by the school. After a few days, he called the shopkeepers and secretly took financial benefits and registered the shops in the name of his parents and uncles. The educational institution has not been getting any rent from these shops for the past one year. I, as the head of the institution, have a negative attitude towards supervising. Therefore, I have highlighted the matter and complained in writing to my higher authorities related to education, including the upazila administration. I hope they will take necessary action after investigation. On the other hand, when I spoke to the accused senior assistant teacher Nur Azam Chowdhury Jadu about the matter, he told the media, "My grandparents donated land to this school when it was established. So far, I have not been able to seize this land and shop for the chairman Saiful Islam Mukul. Now I have an opportunity to seize our ancestral property. This shop and the land belong to my grandparents. So I am using it for the madrasa by charging rent.

 

 At that time, senior assistant teacher Nur Azam Chowdhury Jadu was asked whether the shop in front of the school belongs to a traditionalist. How is this possible, being a Muslim, Jadu Chowdhury said, "This is all the property of my uncles." On the other hand, in light of the allegations, teacher Nur Azam Chowdhury Jadu reviewed the documents provided by the media workers for information, but after reviewing the documents related to the land in front of the school, it was found that the shop was the ancestral property of their grandparents. Regarding the matter, Alhaj Kamaruzzaman, the president of the ad hoc committee of the institution, said, "I have come as the new president.

 

 The matter has come to my attention, the matter is under investigation. Necessary action will be taken subject to investigation." In this regard, Upazila Secondary Officer Ashraf Uz- zzaman Sarkar said, "I have received a written complaint in this regard. Necessary action will be taken subject to investigation after visiting the school in the next few days." On the other hand, Upazila Executive Officer Zaid Imrul Mozakkin said, "I have been informed about the matter. I have asked the Secondary Education Officer to look into the entire matter. Action will be taken according to the investigation report."
