4 members of Online Casino gang arrested in Rangpur

Police arrested 4 members of an online casino and dollar fraud gang in Mithapukur Upazila of Rangpur.
They were arrested in a raid in the Dhap Nayapara area of Gopalpur Union of Mithapukur Upazila late on Thursday night. The arrested are Habibur Rahman (32), Hafizur Rahman (33) and Shamim Mia (24), sons of Lal Mia of the same area, and Sumon Sarkar alias Titas (28), son of Sultan Mia.
It has been learned from the complaint received that the fraud gang was arrested in a raid led by SI Emdadul Haque of Mithapukur Police Station in the wake of a case filed by Ripon Mia, a victim of Sherpur district.
Police said that the arrested fraudsters had been defrauding the common people for a long time through online casinos and dollar fraud in various parts of the country including Rangpur. They were defrauding the victims of their money, mobile phones and other valuable assets. When the matter came to the attention of local journalists in Mithapukur Upazila of Rangpur, it was published in various media outlets. As a result, the police, after receiving widespread criticism, carried out a raid and arrested the fraudsters.
Mithapukur Police Station OC Nur Alam Siddiqui confirmed the matter to reporters on Friday and said that legal action has been taken in this regard and the arrested have been sent to jail through the court.
