
3 operations in Sundarbans : Coast Guard detained 6 people with local firearms, weapons, ammunitions, drugs

In three separate operations in the Sundarbans and Khulna, the Coast Guard detained six people along with local firearms, local weapons, ammunition, and drugs.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Hoque informed this in a press release on Saturday morning.
The press release said that based on secret information, on 06 September 2025, Saturday at 1:00 a.m., a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Base Mongla in the Chhoto Padma canal area adjacent to the Pashur River in the Sundarbans. During the operation, sensing the presence of the Coast Guard in the area, the bandits tried to flee. Later, the Coast Guard operation team chased and arrested 4 associates of the infamous Sundarbans bandit group “Chhoto Suman Bahini” along with 01 single-barrel gun, 04 rounds of fresh cartridges, and 04 rounds of blank cartridges. The arrested bandits—Md. Billal Hossain (25), Md. Robiul Sheikh (32), Md. Jinnat Hawlader (35), and Md. Kalam Gazi (24)—are residents of Khulna and Bagerhat districts. They had long been involved with the Chhoto Suman gang in robbery and assisting the gang by supplying weapons, ammunition, and provisions.
On the other hand, at 2:00 a.m., a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Koikhali in the government Mohsin College adjacent area under Shyamnagar Police Station, where one drug dealer was arrested along with 50 pieces of yaba (worth about 25,000 taka) and cash 17,580 taka.
In addition, at 5:00 a.m., Coast Guard Station Rupsha, in coordination with the Navy and Police, conducted a joint operation in the Switch Gate area under Lobonchora Police Station in Khulna. In this operation, 04 local weapons and 200 grams of cannabis (worth about 6,400 taka) were seized, and one member of a teenage gang was arrested.
The seized evidence and the arrested persons are under process for further legal action.
To keep the country’s coastal areas and the Sundarbans free from drugs and banditry, Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future.
