7 robbers arrested in Shajahanpur for robbing pickup van loaded with furniture in name of DB

A pickup van loaded with furniture was robbed in Shajahanpur in  Bogura in the name of DB police on Thursday. 

 The owner of the pickup, Arif Hossain, filed a case with Shajahanpur Police Station as the plaintiff in this incident. The police have already arrested 7 robbers and recovered the private car and Burmese knife used in the robbery.

The arrested are - Ratul (22) son of Shafiqul Islam of Rahimabad Uttar Para in Shajahanpur Upazila, Tarek Hossain (32) son of Bipul Hossain of Shabrul Kargi Para, Sumon Pramanik (22) son of the deceased Alamgir Hossain of Satshimulia in Bogra Sadar Upazila, Sabbir Pasha alias Shaon (33) son of the deceased Putu Mia of Sultanganj Para in the same upazila, the deceased Golam Md.  Pasha's son Mustafa Pasha alias Shyamal (35), Kalam alias Surma Kalam alias Jamal (34), son of the late Kamal Mia of Malgram Uttar Para, and Russell Ahmed (35), son of the late Sajjad of Nisindara Madhya Para. Shajahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam Shafiq confirmed this information on Thursday morning.

According to the case,  on August 12, at around 12:15 am, a pickup truck (Dhaka Metro-No-21-1664) carrying furniture worth Tk 120,000 left from the Bashila area of Keraniganj in Dhaka and headed for Gaibandha and Dinajpur. When the vehicle reached the Rahimabad B-Block Overpass area of Shajahanpur Upazila at around 4:30 am, a group of 14-15 robbers in 3 private cars stopped the vehicle with flashlights. 

 They introduced themselves as DB police and  handcuffed driver Al-Amin (35) and helper Rafiq (45) and took them to a private car. At that time, the robbers snatched two smartphones, driving licenses and 3,000 taka in cash from them. Later, at around 5 am, they left the driver and helper tied up on the side of the road in the Ghuniatola area of Bogra Second Bypass and fled.

Then, the pickup owner Arif Hossain of Jagannathpur village of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila filed a case with Shajahanpur Police Station on August 13. The police arrested Ratul as a suspect on the night of the case. Based on the information he provided, a total of 7 robbers were later arrested.

Shajahanpur Police Station OC Shafiqul Islam said, the arrested have been sent to court. In addition, the operation to arrest the looted goods and other accused is continuing.
