Noakhali youth shot dead in Saudi Arabia

An expatriate Bangladeshi named Md. Kamrul Zaman (37) was shot dead in the city of Taif, Saudi Arabia. In this incident, a young Saudi man who attacked him also committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

The deceased, Kamrul, was the son of Khorshed Alam of Kazi Bari, Kutubpur village, Ward No. 3, Kutubpur Union, Begumganj Upazila, Noakhali. He was the father of two sons.

The incident occurred in the Hawaiya area of Taif around 4 a.m. local time on Sunday (August 30).

Abu Naser Chowdhury, UP member of Ward No. 3 of Qutubpur Union, confirmed this information.

Locals said that Kamrul was returning home after finishing his duty at the supermarket. While he was standing on the road talking to his family members on his mobile phone, a Saudi youth suddenly opened fire on him. Kamrul ran inside the supermarket to save his life. At that time, two other employees working there fled in panic. Later, the attacker entered the market and shot Kamrul three times in a row. He died on the spot. The attacker then committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

UP member Abu Naser Chowdhury also said that Kamrul's father is a farmer by profession. Kamrul went to Saudi Arabia about two and a half years ago in search of livelihood. Family members learned of his death around 11 am on Sunday.
