Advocacy meeting held in Patharghata to strengthen nexus programming with service providers

An advocacy meeting was held with service providers to strengthen Nexus programming. The meeting was organized by Activista Barguna in collaboration with ActionAid Bangladesh and NSS on Sunday.
The meeting was presided over by Dr. Apurba Biswas Rakhal, Resident Medical Officer of Patharghata Health Complex, in the seminar room on the 5th floor of Sankalp Trust.
The chief guest was the representative of Chief Whip, social worker Md. Erfan Ahmed Soen. The special guests were Upazila Education Officer Zinat Jahan, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Muhammad Munirul Islam, Additional Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Nazmul Alam, Upazila Rural Development Officer Md. Zahirul Islam, Upazila ICT Officer Chowdhury Md. Shawkat Hossain, Charduani Union Parishad Acting Chairman Md. Alamgir Hossain, Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Officer Md. Rafiqul Islam, Sadar Union Parishad Acting Chairman Md. Sagir Alam, Upazila Assistant Youth Development Officer Md. Imam Hossain, Patharghata Model Press Club President Zakir Hossain Khan, journalist Imam Hossain Nahid, NSS Human Resources Department Coordinator Md. Obaidul Islam, Patharghata Municipality Assistant Engineer Md. Monirul Islam and Forest Department representative FCCO Md. Sohrab Hossain.
Additional Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Nazmul Alam, Upazila Rural Development Officer Md. Zahirul Islam, Upazila ICT Officer Chowdhury Md. Shawkat Hossain, Charduani Union Parishad Acting Chairman Md. Alamgir Hossain, Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Officer Md. Rafiqul Islam, Sadar Union Parishad Acting Chairman Md. Sagir Hossain and Upazila Assistant Youth Development Officer Md. Imam Hossain spoke at the meeting. In addition, among the journalists, Patharghata Model Press Club President Md. Zakir Hossain Khan, Dainik Samakal's Patharghata correspondent Md. Imam Hossain Nahid, former Patharghata Press Club President Md. Amin Sohel and General Secretary Md. Nazmul Haque Selim spoke.
Youth members Md. Zakir Hossain Miraj and Amena Lima presented the results of the community consultation and the upazila action plan.
Speakers at the meeting said that weak embankments damage homes and livelihoods and increase the cost of post-disaster recovery. Lack of advance preparation and awareness leads to delays in emergency response, which increases the risk to human life and property.
The meeting was attended by about 150 representatives, including government officials, civil society, journalists, and youth members
An awareness play was staged at the beginning of the meeting. Later, a song was performed demanding improvement in the quality of healthcare. The meeting was moderated by Project Coordinator Md. Moniruzzaman.
