  A memorial meeting held in Rangpur on Friday afternoon  in remembrance of BNP district member secretary Late Anisur Rahman Laku at the Rangpur District Shilpakala Academy. Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, member of the BNP standing committee was present as chief guest at the memorial meeting.  

At the Meeting Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain said that BNP does not believe in the PR system of elections under any circumstances. Those who are talking about PR today can go to the people and see what they want. Under no circumstances can a system be imposed on the people to achieve party interests. Those who are looking for excuses to prolong elections and democracy by talking about new things can find them, but the people of Bangladesh have been accustomed to voting directly for the past 54 years. The constitution of Bangladesh provides for the election of representatives through direct voting. This is what the people of Bangladesh believe in.

The memorial meeting, chaired by District BNP Convener Saiful Islam, was addressed by the party's Joint Secretary General and National Executive Committee member Habibunnabi Khan Sohel, Rangpur Divisional Organizing Secretary Principal Asadul Habib Dulu, Co-Organizing Secretary Abdul Khalek, Professor Aminul Islam, and others.

Dr. Zahid said, “How many of their representatives have been represented in parliament in the past 60 years? Did the people of the country give them any responsibility at all? As a political party, we have experience in running the country in the past. From there, BNP believes that elections should be held in the current manner according to the current situation.”

It is noted that a huge number of BNP activists as well as leaders attended the memorial meeting of Late Anisur Rahman Laku at the Rangpur District Shilpakala Academy. They whole heartily remembered the great contributions of Late Anisur Rahman Laku for the betterment of Rangpur BNP and prayed for his departed soul so that Almighty Allah grant him the highest place in Jannatul ferdous.
