The Bangladesh Coast Guard provided emergency medical assistance to a critically ill passenger on board a passenger launch on Tuesday after receiving a distress call via their emergency hotline, 16111.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, Media Officer for the Coast Guard, shared this information in a press release on Tuesday night.
According to the Coast Guard, a father boarded the passenger launch Karnafuli-11 from Bhola bound for Dhaka at 1:00 PM on Tuesday to seek advanced medical treatment for his ailing son. When the launch reached the Chandpur Mohona area at around 2:00 PM, the patient's condition sharply deteriorated and became critical. At that moment, the patient's father called the Coast Guard emergency helpline 16111 to seek assistance.
Acting on the information, a medical team from Coast Guard Station Chandpur promptly boarded the launch and administered first aid. Subsequently, using a Coast Guard boat, the patient was swiftly transferred to the emergency department of Chandpur Sadar Hospital.
Following necessary medical evaluation and instructions for advanced care by the duty physician, the patient was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital via a government ambulance.
