The Coast Guard has seized 45 -kilograms of deer meat and 12 legs in Shyamnagar Upazila of Satkhira. Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Coast Guard media officer, gave this information on Saturday afternoon in a press release.
The press release said that acting on a tip-off, the Coast Guard Station Kaikhali carried out a special operation around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday (18 Oct) near the Parsekhali Bridge in the Shyamnagar police station area. During the operation, about 45 kg of deer meat and 12 legs were recovered from the area. The poachers escaped when they sensed the presence of the Coast Guard, so no arrests could be made. The seized deer meat was handed over to the Tengrakhali patrol outpost of the Forest Office for further legal action.
The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent wildlife killing and trafficking, the press release added.
