Abu Naser Rahmatullah seeks PM s intervention to prevent river erosion in Barishal

BNP National Executive Committee member Abu Naser Muhammad Rahmatullah has sought the Prime Minister's urgent intervention to permanently resolve the river erosion problem in Barishal.

He made the call while participating in a human chain organized by the 'Abdur Rahman Biswas Smriti Parishad' in front of Ashwini Kumar Town Hall on Sadar Road in Barisal city at 11 am on Saturday.

At the time, Rahmatullah said, river erosion in Barisal is a long-standing problem. Every year, numerous homes, agricultural lands, educational institutions and important structures are being submerged in the riverbed. As a result, thousands of people are forced to live in inhuman conditions.

Hundreds of people affected by river erosion in Charbaria, Chandramohan, Charmonai and Shayestabad unions of Barishal Sadar Upazila, as well as leaders and activists of local BNP and its affiliates and allied organizations, participated in the human chain.

Abdur Rahman Biswas Memorial Council Convener Professor Dr. Aminul Haque presided over the program. Also present were Sadar Upazila BNP Senior Joint Convener A. Salam Rahri, District Volunteer Party No. 1 Joint Convener Anwar Hossain Titu, Chandramohan Union BNP leader Israel Pandit, Shayestabad Union BNP leader Hemayet Hossain Murad, Kashipur Union BNP former General Secretary Kazi Md. Jahangir, Tungibaria Union BNP leader Anwar Hossain, Jagua Union Volunteer Party leader Zahidul Islam Tapan, Barisal Metropolitan Ward No. 14 BNP former Vice President Habibur Rahman Alamgir, Metropolitan Youth Party leader Md. Masum, District Chhatra Dal Senior Joint Convener Asif Al Mamun, City Chhatra Dal leader Obaidul Islam Ujjal, District Chhatra Dal leader Masudur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal leader Rahat Talukder, BM College Chhatra Dal leader Akbar Mubin and Chandramohan Union Chhatra Dal leader Naim, along with leaders and activists at various levels.

The program was hosted by Ilias Ahmad, member secretary of Abdur Rahman Biswas Memorial Council.
