Transporting drugs from Cox's Bazar by tact : Yaba spreading in Dhaka, Narayanganj

Narayanganj Correspondent

Someone is a hawker. Someone is a fish seller. On the other hand, professional drug dealers rent houses in Kanchpur of Narayanganj district, Siddhirganj's Signboard Mor, Demra, Mizmiji, Mouchak on the outskirts of the capital as fruit sellers. Although there is a disguised form, their main business is drugs.

All these drug dealers in disguise change their location again and again. Does not stay more than three months in any area. They carry various drugs including yaba and ice from Teknath border area of Cox's Bazar and supply them to different areas of Narayanganj and Dhaka. Even if small amount of drugs are caught sometimes, disguised drug dealers cannot be eradicated.

The Narayanganj District Narcotics Control Directorate conducted an operation on a bus named Saint Martin Souhard from Cox's Bazar to Dhaka in the morning of last Tuesday.

At this time, a young man was arrested with 8400 pieces of Yaba from the passenger bus. The detained youth, Md. Rubel Hossain (34), is the son of Md. Abdul Mannan of Tamta Chayal Bari, Shahbari Police Station, Chandpur District.

Deputy Inspector of District Narcotics Control Directorate Iqbal Ahmed Dipu said, based on secret information, we raided the passenger bus named Saint Martin Souhadya (Dhaka Metro-B-13-2001) of Siddhirganj with joint force. At this time, a passenger named Md. Rubel Hossain was detained. 8,400 Yaba tablets were recovered from the passenger. The current price of this drug is around 26 lakh taka.

In this incident, the District Narcotics Control Directorate filed a case under Narcotics Act at Siddhirganj Police Station of Narayanganj District.

Meanwhile, two drug dealers were arrested along with 20,000 pieces of Yaba in the operation of the Directorate of Narcotics Control (DNC) on October 4. A woman drug dealer is also among those arrested. The arrested are - Kalima Akhtar aka Rosi (30) and Md. Tanzil (32).

Deputy Director of DNC's Dhaka Metro (South) office, Mohammad Mamun, confirmed this information and said that raids were conducted in Wari and Demra areas of the capital last September. At this time, during the sale of 50 pieces of Yaba, identified drug dealers of Bangshal and Wari areas. Tanzil was arrested red-handed. Later, while searching for the information given by him and the source of seized yaba, a new gang of drug dealers centered in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar was found. A woman member of the gang, Kalima Akhter alias Rozi, was arrested after reaching the Bamail area of Demra.

Later, his rented house was searched and 20 thousand pieces of yaba were recovered from the wardrobe drawer.

According to DNC, earlier, it was delivered through carriers from the border areas of Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox's Bazar to drug dealers in Yaba and Ice Dhaka. Recently, a large amount of yaba and ice was seized due to the raids and check posts by the Drug Control Department and other law enforcement agencies. In view of this, the drug dealers of Cox's Bazar strategically brought different quantities of Yaba and took up rental positions in various areas including Jatrabari, Demra including Kanchpur, Siddhirganj Signboard Mor, Mouchak and Shimulpara in Narayanganj district near the capital.

They stay in Dhaka for various reasons including medical treatment, hawker business and change their location on a regular basis. If the drug dealers of the capital delivered money to the drug dealers of Cox's Bazar, they used to deliver Yaba to the dealers of the capital through these dealers.
