A complaint has been received of an attempt to invite new tenders for oil transportation in Sylhet Gas Field, bypassing the contracted contractors.

The Sylhet Gas Field Fuel Transport Owners Association has submitted a memorandum to the government's concerned advisor in this regard.

The memorandum states that where 160 vehicles are required for oil transportation every day, 413 vehicles are being registered, wasting state money. The organization has demanded that necessary measures be taken in this regard to prevent state waste.

Md. Nazmul Haque, convener of the Sylhet Gas Field Fuel Transport Owners Association, said in a signed complaint that 21 transport contractor companies in Sylhet were registered for oil transportation in 2020. 413 vehicles were registered in this. But 160 vehicles are required for oil transportation every day. However, Sylhet Gas Field Limited has taken the initiative to invite tenders to appoint new transport contractors by keeping more than 200 vehicles idle.

Managing Director of Rashidpur Gas Field Ltd Alamgir Azad said, in light of the memorandum given by the Oil Transport Owners Association, we have not received any order from the concerned department. Moreover, I have received information that a writ has been filed in the High Court regarding this.

Managing Director of Sylhet Gas Fields Limited Engineer Rezaul Islam said, "In view of the writ petition filed in the High Court by the Fuel Oil Transport Owners Association, the matter has been postponed for 6 months. The next decision will be taken by the court order after the stipulated time."

Renowned scholar Allama Ishaq Madani no more

International Islamic scholar, senior scholar of religion, and the creative son of Sylhet, Sheikhul Hadith Allama Ishaq Al Madani, is no more (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He passed away at 8 am on Monday (January 20) at Sylhet Mount Edora Hospital. Earlier, he was admitted to the ICU of the hospital with respiratory problems on Sunday. He was 74 years old at the time of his death. He died leaving behind numerous admirers, including his wife, 2 sons and 4 daughters.

The funeral prayer of the deceased was held at the Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa Maidan at 4:45 pm (4.45 minutes) on Monday (January 20). The presence of people from all walks of life was noticeable in the funeral prayer of Madani, who had a colorful life. Well-wishers gathered at the Madrasa ground to see him for the last time.

Allama Ishaq Al Madani was a renowned Hadith scholar and religious leader of the subcontinent. He was a teacher of thousands of scholars, a bright star in the world of Ilm-e-Nabawi, and a treasure of the Ummah. He was a former preacher of the traditional Darul Ifta, Saudi Arabia. As a brilliant student in his academic career, Shaykh Allama Ishaq Al Madani obtained a higher degree from the world-famous Madinah Islamic University. He served Ilm-e-Din as a Shaykhul Hadith at Shahjalal Jamia Islamia Kamil Madrasa Pathantula for a long time.
