Memorial Museum was inaugurated at Dr. Muktadir Eye Hospital in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district on Saturday afternoon.

Afterwards, a ceremonial discussion and a cultural function was held at Dr. Muktadir Eye Hospital premises with country's elite ophthalmologist, freedom fighter Professor Dr. AKMA Muktadir in the chair while former head of Gynecology Department of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital Dr. Mahmuda Khatun was present as chief guest. UNO of Gouripur upazila M Sazzadul Hasan, AC (Land) Sunanda Sarkar Prama, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Iqbal Ahmed Nasser and officer in-charge of Gouripur police station Mirza Mazharur Anwar were present as special guests.

Dr. AKMA Muktadir was a founder of Muqtadir Eye Hospital of Gouripur. former head of eye department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He also invented medical instruments in 1979 and 1980. He received the country's highest award 'Swadhinata Padak' in 2020 for his special contribution to medicine section. also received the 'Guru Pujan Award' at the conference of All India Ophthalmological Society held on September 23, 2023 at Bilaspur, India for outstanding contribution to eye care in rural areas of the country. On October 22, 2016, he received the Life Time Achievement Award, President Abdul Hamid Award in 2014 for outstanding contribution to the field of Ophthalmology, Lions African One Award in 2002, at a function organized by the Association of Community Ophthalmology in India at Tiruchirappalli, India. Distinguished Service Award by AFAO in 2007, Ekadas Endowment Award, India Gold Medal in 2015. After all he won 19 awards at home and abroad including the 'Birangana Sakhina Silver Pen Award-2016' in recognition of his social service contribution by the Electoral Committee in 2018.
