The first Haj flight took off from Sylhet Osmani International Airport carrying 389 pilgrims.Biman flight BG-237 left Sylhet for Medina at 4.40 pm on Wednesday.

Biman Bangladesh Air Lines District Manager Shahnewaj Majumdar confirmed the matter and said that the flight carrying 29 pilgrims from Dhaka and 360 pilgrims from Sylhet left for Madinah at 4:40 pm.

Earlier, State Minister for Expatriate Welfare Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury inaugurated the Sylhet-Madina Hajj flight at Sylhet Airport at 3 pm on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, at the inauguration ceremony of the Hajj flight, State Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury MP said that the direct Hajj flight from Sylhet has been launched with the sincerity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Government of Bangladesh is conducting digital Hajj management program to make all activities of Haj pilgrims easy and beautiful. The Prime Minister is very passionate about Sylhet which is why Sylhet has an international airport and has worked in various ways for the development of the airport. The reason for his sincerity with the people of Sylhet is that Bangabandhu always praised Sylhet and loved the people of Sylhet.

He said, that no pilgrim should be cheated, that is why we have kept a watchful eye. If anyone commits any fraudulent act, legal action will be taken against him.

At this time, the State Minister called on the pilgrims to pray that the country may be saved from various crises and natural disasters and that the country may move forward on the path of development under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

Maulana Khawaja Moinuddin Ahmad Jalalabadi, chairman of Khawaja Haj Umrah Group, led the recitation from the Holy Quran at the beginning of the programme and prayers at the end.
