A case has been filed against the Chairman and Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Sylhet, on the charges of rampant corruption and embezzlement. The case was filed by the dismissed section officer of the Sylhet Education Board, Md. Saiful Islam, in the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, Sylhet, on September 5.

After several rounds of hearings on the admissibility of the case, an order was awaited. On September 2, the Honorable Court accepted the case and directed the Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission Sylhet office to investigate.

According to the complaint, the outgoing Chairman of Sylhet Education Board (on the run since last August 5) Professor Dr. Rama Vijay Sarkar joined the Chairmanship of Sylhet Education Board at the end of 2020 and some corrupt employees Sylhet District Professional League leaders Jahangir Alam, Alamgir Kabir, Nihar Kanti Roy. , developed special friendship with Abul Kalam, Farooq Ahmad and others. Board Secretary Professor Md. Kabir Ahmad, with the help of Examination Controller Arun Chandra Pal along with Sylhet District Professional League leaders established a reign of terror in the Sylhet Education Board by using the icon of the fallen autocratic government.

They embezzled the money of the education board through various forms of irregularities, corruption, nepotism and arbitrariness. Embezzlement of lakhs of rupees in the education allowance sector by violating the rules and regulations of National Pay Scale 2015, making fictitious projects and embezzling funds with their own people, making a mural of Sheikh Mujib at a cost of one and a half lakh rupees and showing the cost of three lakh rupees, appointing people in the master role and Bhuya embezzled huge amount of money in the name of various development works through bogus contractor companies. Outgoing Chairman (now absconding) Prof. Dr. Rama Vijay Sarkar, Ex-Secretary Prof. Md. Kabir Ahmad's personal criminal case expenses from Education Board funds. When Section Officer Md. Saiful Islam stood up against all these irregularities and corruption, he was harassed and denied promotion in various ways.

During the conversation, the plaintiff in the case, Md. Saiful Islam, said that Sylhet Education Board Chairman and his friends unitedly made false accusations against the protestors of injustice and expelled them from there and turned the entire Sylhet Education Board into an arena of corruption. As I personally protested these injustices, I was also dismissed from the post.
