Attempt to kill young woman after failing rape in Jibannagar

A young man named Ashiq has attempted to kill a young woman by stabbing her in Jibannagar, Chuadanga after a failed rape attempt.
The seriously injured young woman has been sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon in Madhabpur village of Raipur union of the upazila.
The victim's family members said that the young woman had gone to the field next to her house to get chalk. At that time, Md. Ashiq (28) of the same village made a lewd proposal to her. When the young woman did not agree, he tried to rape her by force.
When the young woman resisted, Ashiq randomly punched her. At one point, Ashiq stabbed the young woman on the left side of her neck, causing a bloody wound. At that time, the young woman became unconscious and Ashiq fled the scene.
Upon receiving the news, the girl's relatives rescued her with the help of locals and brought her to the Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex. However, as her condition was serious, the doctor on duty referred her to Jessore Medical College Hospital after giving her primary treatment.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jibannagar Police Station Mamun Hossain Biswas said, "I went to the Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex as soon as I heard about the incident. I heard the victim's physical condition from the doctor and the description of the incident from her family. A team of ours went to the spot. However, we have not received any complaint from the victim's family yet."
