Narayanganj’s Riya Ghosh honored in Dhanmondi Sports Complex renaming

The Sultana Kamal Women's Sports Complex in Dhanmondi has been renamed in memory of Riya Ghosh, a child from Narayanganj who was killed during the July-August protests. From now on, the complex will be known as the Riya Ghosh Women's Sports Complex in her honor.
A letter issued last Sunday by the Secretary of the National Sports Council, Md. Aminul Islam, officially informed the relevant authorities of the name change. Riya Ghosh tragically lost her life on July 19 last year in Narayanganj’s Noyamati area. After finishing lunch, she went to the rooftop to play. At that moment, chaos erupted on the street below, prompting her father to rush upstairs to bring her inside.
Just as he picked her up in his arms, a bullet struck Riya in the head. She collapsed instantly in her father’s embrace. In a desperate attempt to save her, he rushed to the hospital with his blood-soaked daughter, but despite medical efforts, Riya succumbed to her njuries.
