
11 people, including contractor fined in mobile court raid in Kulaura

Abdus Samad, manager of a contracting company in Kulaura, Moulvibazar, has been fined Tk 1 lakh for illegally extracting sand beyond the limits set by the government.
In addition, 11 shopkeepers were fined Tk 40,000 for selling products at prices higher than their face value and operating shops by occupying sidewalks.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Shah Zahurul Hossain imposed the fines during a drive in the Robir Bazar and Rajapur Bridge areas of Prithimpasha Union of the upazila on Monday afternoon.
He said that the contractor was illegally extracting sand beyond the limits set by the government. Following the news, a raid was conducted on Monday afternoon and the manager of the company was fined Tk 1 lakh and in another operation, 11 shopkeepers were fined Tk 40,000 for selling products at higher prices than the actual cost and operating shops by occupying sidewalks in the Robir Bazar area.
