
DU Mathematics Alumni Assoc reunion held

The annual general meeting and reunion of Dhaka University Mathematics Alumni Association was held on Saturday at the Central Playground.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the event.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dhaka University Mathematics Alumni Association President Dr. Mohammad Tajul Islam.
The university's Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Prof Dr. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics Prof Shapla Shirin and Chairman of the Department of Applied Mathematics Professor Dr. Muhammad Ferdous spoke as special guests.
Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali and Pirojpur University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam delivered the welcome speech. Joint General Secretary of the organization Md. Mansur Rahman expressed his gratitude.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan highlighted the contribution of the Mathematics Alumni Association in the overall development of the department and said that alumni activities should be further expanded in various fields including increasing communication between former and current students, providing scholarships to underprivileged students, and infrastructural development. He called on the alumni of the Mathematics Department to work in coordination with the Dhaka University Central Alumni Association for the overall development of the university.
15 retired professors of the department were honored at the event. In the second part of the event, a memorial service, raffle draw and a delightful cultural program were presented.
