Mass Iftar held at NSTU

Mass Iftar held at NSTU

NSTU Correspondent

Following last year’s tradition, a mass iftar was organized by the students of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) on the first day of Ramadan this year as well.

The event took place on Sunday at the university’s central playground under the banner of general students, with participation from over a hundred students.

Students began gathering at the central playground after the Asr prayer. The program featured Quran recitation, Hamd, and Naat performances, followed by supplications. As the Maghrib Adhan was called, everyone broke their fast together.

Students expressed that iftar symbolizes the beauty of Islam. Coming together as a community for iftar fosters brotherhood and strengthens Islamic values. They also mentioned that last year, the authoritarian allies attempted to ban iftar gatherings on campus, labeling them as acts of chaos. In response, the students organized a mass iftar on the first day of Ramadan as a form of protest. This year, the tradition continued, allowing participation from both Muslims and non-Muslims. They affirmed their commitment to maintaining this initiative in the future.

It is noteworthy that last year, in response to a ban imposed by the university administration on iftar gatherings, general students held a "Mass Iftar" program on the first day of Ramadan. Continuing that tradition, this year’s mass iftar was organized to welcome the holy month of Ramadan.
