Day-long Int'l Linguistics Confce held at DU

A day-long International Linguistics Conference was held on 26 February 2025 at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, organized by the Department of Linguistics, Dhaka University.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the conference. This year, the theme of the conference is Language, Function and Inter-disciplinating Digital Humanities.
Chaired by the Chairperson of the Department of Linguistics, Dr. Monira Begum, the conference was addressed by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha and Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan as special guests. The conference organizing committee convener, Professor Dr. Syed Shahriar Rahman, delivered the welcome address. Prof Dr. Ted Gibson of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, and Professor Dr. Matti Miestamo of the University of Helsinki, Finland, presented the keynote papers.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized on further expanding joint collaborative education and research activities on language and culture between Dhaka University and renowned universities of the world and said that language has a universal appeal in uniting people all over the world.
