
Work on preparations of DUCSU elections progressing

The three separate committees formed to advise on the successful organization of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections amend the code of conduct for the elections, and amend and revise the constitution of DUCSU and Hall Parliament are working tirelessly.
As per the instructions of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, these committees are constantly taking the views of all stakeholders including student organizations active on campus, general students, and journalists. The committees have already met several times and received written opinions from the stakeholders.
It is worth noting that a 6-member committee was formed with the university's Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha as the joint convener to advise on the successful organization of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections. This committee has completed the exchange of views and discussions with all the student organizations active on the campus and relevant stakeholders. The committee will soon start the process of collecting the opinions of general students on the DUCSU elections through Google Forms. The exchange of views with the hall principals on this issue will be completed this week. Initiatives have also been taken to complete the exchange of views with other stakeholders soon.
A 7-member committee was formed with Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed as the convener to formulate/amend the code of conduct for DUCSU and Hall Parliament elections. This committee held a series of exchange of views meetings with all the student organizations active on the campus, former DUCSU leaders and political figures, general students, members of the Dhaka University Journalists Association for 2019 and 2025, hall provosts, house tutors and teachers and officials involved in the previous DUCSU elections.
In addition, a separate committee was formed with the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ikramul Haque, as the convener, to formulate recommendations on amending/revising the constitution of DUCSU and the Hall Sangsad. This committee invited proposals for amending the constitution from various student organizations and all students. In this context, many well-considered proposals were received.
The detailed schedule of the elections will be announced after receiving the final recommendations of the various committees formed for DUCSU elections. There is no scope to announce the advance schedule of DUCSU elections before the overall preparations are completed.
