
6-point memo submitted to DC : Bhumihin Andolon organises huge gathering of landless people in N'ganj

A mass gathering of landless people was held in front of the Narayanganj Press Club on Wednesday at 11 am at the initiative of Bangladesh Bhumihin Andolon , Narayanganj District Unit.
The Chief Adviser of the Bangladesh Bhumihin Andolon , Chief Coordinator of the State Reform Movement, and Constitutional expert Adv. Hasnat Qayyum was present as the chief guest.
The main discussant was Sheikh Nasir Uddin, Central General Secretary of the Bangladesh Bhumihin Andolon while special guests were filmmaker Khandaker Suman, Member Secretary of the Bangladesh Bhumihin Andolon, Narayanganj District Branch Md. Rafiq Ahmed, and Member of the State Reform Movement National Coordination Committee Sohel Sikder.
Joint General Secretary of the Bangladesh Bhumihin Andolon Chamiul Alam Rasu, was present as the special speaker. Bangladesh Bhumihin Andolon, Narayanganj District Branch Convener Md. Ziaur Islam Sumon presided over the meeting. Md. Monowara, Morsheda Khatun, Kulsum Begum, Josna Akhter, Asma Akhter, Daulatannahar and others present.
After the mass gathering, a memorandum containing 6-point demands was submitted to the Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner.
The memorandum states that since its establishment in 2016, the Bangladesh Landless Movement has been working to establish the rights of the landless people across the country. During the previous dictator Sheikh Hasina's government, the landless people faced unlimited atrocities including attacks, lawsuits, killings and torture by dishonest officials and land grabbers.
After the fall of the dictator Sheikh Hasina in a historic mass uprising of students and the public on August 5, Nobel laureate Dr. As the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus took charge of the state, millions of landless families across the country are seeing a new ray of hope.
Thousands of landless, helpless, and uprooted people live in Narayanganj district. They are deprived of all basic rights in the state. In this situation, for your consideration, the Bangladesh Bhumi Andolon has 6 specific demands which include Khas land should be recovered from land grabbers and allocated to the landless ; the wealth acquired through corruption and looting in Narayanganj district should be confiscated ; investment should be made for employment of the landless people of Narayanganj district ; TCB cards should be allocated to all landless, helpless, uprooted, poor people of Narayanganj district ; Constitution should be reformed to ensure representation of the landless in the government and the constitution reform meeting and the national parliament elections should be held together.
