
Coast Guard, Fisheries Depat joint raid : 700- kg jatka, banned 'Duari' nets seized in Louhajang

In a joint operation by the Coast Guard and the Fisheries Department in Louhajang, Munshiganj, 700 -kg of banned Jatka Hilsa was seized.
Besides, 52 illegal Chinese Duari nets were confiscated from Singher Hati. The seized Jatka fish were later distributed among orphaned children and the underprivileged in various madrasas.
Louhajang Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Rezaul Islam Tushar stated that the joint operation was conducted from 12:30 AM to 2:30 AM on Monday near the Padma Bridge toll plaza in Louhajang by the BCG Composite Station Padma and the Louhajang Upazila Fisheries Office.
During the operation, a Dhaka-bound bus was searched, leading to the seizure of 700 kg of banned Jatka Hilsa. However, as the owner could not be identified, no arrests were made. The confiscated fish were later distributed among orphaned and underprivileged individuals in several madrasas, including Rojat-ul-Uloom Arabia Women’s Madrasa, Bayt-un-Nabi Nurani Hafizia Madrasa, Jannatul Ferdous Women’s Madrasa, and Siddiqia Madrasa.
Furthermore, from 10:00 AM to 12:45 PM on Monday, a separate operation was conducted in the Singher Hati area, where 52 illegal Chinese Duari nets were seized and later destroyed by fire.
