For good behavior, regular attendance in classes and satisfactory results in studies, 50 meritorious students from different departments of Dhaka University received ‘Dhaka University Alumni in the UK Trust Fund’ scholarships.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at a function at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Tuesday (7 January 2025) and handed over the scholarship cheques to the students.

The function was presided over by Dhaka University Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha and Barrister Mohammad Abul Kalam, Trustee and Executive Committee Member of ‘Dhaka University Alumni in the UK’, spoke as special guests.

General Secretary of the organization, Abul F. Mesbah Uddin Echo, delivered the welcome speech. Acting Registrar, Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, conducted the program. Teachers, students of various departments and leaders of ‘Dhaka University Alumni in the UK’ were present at the time.

Vice-Chancellor said that the love and affection that the alumni of Dhaka University living in the UK have shown towards this institution despite the many busyness and limitations of their expatriate life is truly commendable. This scholarship program will play a supportive role in the education and research of the students. He mentioned that such an initiative will also play an important role in creating bridges between the alumni and the Dhaka University administration, teachers and students. He called on the teachers, students and alumni to work together for the development of the university’s education and research.
