
Week-long art exhibition on ‘Face of Life’ begins at DU

A week-long solo art exhibition titled ‘Face of Life’ by renowned sculptor and former student of the Sculpture Department of Dhaka University, Aminul Islam Ashik, began yesterday, Monday at Zainul Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka.
The exhibition was inaugurated in the evening at the Osman Jamal Auditorium of the Faculty of Fine Arts by Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) of Dhaka University, as the chief guest.
Professor Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts; honorary professor of the Sculpture Department Md. Hamiduzzaman Khan; and internationally renowned artist and founder of Britto Arts Trust, Mahbubur Rahman, were present as special guests and delivered speeches at the event. Faculty members and students of the Sculpture Department also attended the inauguration.
In his speech, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed said that several unique and creative works by sculptor Aminul Islam Ashik have been featured in this exhibition. He noted that the artist's depth of thought and distinctive style are reflected in the artworks, and expressed hope that the exhibition would be a source of inspiration for students and young artists.
The exhibition showcases 27 sculptures made of wood, fiberglass, and iron, along with 20 paintings. The exhibition will continue at Zainul Gallery until May 25, 2025, and will remain open to the public every day from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
