Two armed criminals arrested in N’ganj with pistol, bullets

Police in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj area have arrested two armed criminals with a pistol, magazine, and live bullets. The detainees have been identified as Amir Hossain alias Sonet (40), son of Gias Uddin from Khanpur under Sadar Police Station, and Sajib (23) from the same area. Both were known for creating a reign of terror in the Khanpur neighborhood.The arrests took place around 3:30 AM on Sunday (May 5), when police on routine patrol in the Dhanakunda Khalpar area of Ward No. 8 under Narayanganj City Corporation became suspicious of the duo and attempted to stop them for a search. The suspects allegedly pointed a pistol at the police, appearing to prepare to open fire. However, with backup from additional police units, officers managed to apprehend them.According to local sources, the two are known as associates of Azmeri Osman, nephew of former Narayanganj-4 MP AKM Shamim Osman. Under Azmeri’s alleged protection, they have been involved in drug trafficking, extortion, and other criminal activities in the Khanpur area.Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahinur Alam confirmed the arrests and said the suspects are already accused in two anti-discrimination cases. Further investigations are ongoing.
