An exceptional humanitarian initiative has been added to the weekly public hearing of the Barguna district administration to deliver administrative services to the doorsteps of the people.

Along with complaints and various problems, immediate medical treatment and consultation are being arranged by specialist doctors at the public hearing venue for the helpless people who come seeking medical assistance.

The service was provided at the weekly public hearing held at the Barguna Deputy Commissioner's office on Wednesday (August 19) afternoon.

The initiative of the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Taslima Akhter has seen a positive response among those seeking medical services, who got the opportunity to receive medical services at the public hearing table.

It is learnt that usually after receiving complaints and applications from citizens at public hearings, they are sent to the concerned department and action is taken later. However, to reduce the suffering of helpless and poor people seeking healthcare, the Barguna district administration has taken the initiative to provide primary health checkups and necessary medical advice at the public hearing venue.

At the public hearing, people from different classes and professions of the district raised complaints and problems on various issues including land, family and social problems, administrative assistance and healthcare. Deputy Commissioner Taslima Akhter listened to their statements attentively and directed the concerned officials to take immediate action as required.

At the same time, health examinations and necessary advice provided by specialist doctors to those seeking medical services have received a positive response from service seekers.

Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Taslima Akhter said, "Our goal is to reduce the suffering of citizens and improve the quality of services. Public hearings are very effective in creating a direct connection between the administration and the people. Such initiatives will continue to provide necessary services to the marginalized people."
