To control rice market four mill owners fined in Sherpur

In Sherpur of Bogura, to make rice prices stable and under control, four business firms have been fined through a mobile court headed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Sumon Jihadi.
On Saturday (January 27) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the mobile court fined four mill owners of the upazila. They were charged with hoarding rice for a long period of time, selling rice at a higher price, storing rice in plastic bags and not renewing the license. A total fine of 2 lakh 70 thousand has been imposed in the crime. Out of this, Alal Agro Food was fined Tk 1 lakh, Mokles Auto Rice Mill was fined Tk 1 lakh, Shah Sultan Auto Rice Mill Tk 20,000 and Bhai Bhai Auto Rice Mill was fined Tk 50,000 for not renewing the license and storing rice in plastic bags.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Suman Jihadi conducted the mobile court. At that time District Food Controller Kazi Saifuddin, Upazila Food Controller Mamun E Qayyum officer in charge of Sherpur police station Md. Rezaul Karim and related people were present.
Sherpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Suman Jihadi said that under the direction of District Commissioner and District Magistrate Saiful Islam, various operations were conducted to keep the rice market stable, within the purchasing power of people and under control. In the campaign, under Section 3 of the Agricultural Marketing Act 1956, 2018 and the Jute Wrapping Act, fines were levied on establishments under different laws. Such operations will continue in public interest.
