Three institutions fined in Tangail

The National Consumer Rights Protection Department has fined three establishments a total of Tk 1 lakh for using banned Keora water in food, storing stale food, and preparing and storing food products in an unhygienic environment in the Tangail municipal city.

The drive was conducted on Monday morning under the leadership of Asaduzzaman Rumel, Assistant Director of the Tangail office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department.

At that time, Khati Induti Yoghar was fined Tk 10,000 for keeping raw meat and cooked rice and khichuri together in the fridge, Sri Krishna Vegetarian Restaurant was fined Tk 2,000 for keeping stale food and banned Keura water in the fridge, and Gopal Sweets Bhandar was fined Tk 70,000 for keeping ghee in an unsanitary environment and tempering yogurt beyond its expiration date.

Asaduzzaman Rumel, assistant director of the Tangail office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department, said such campaigns will continue to ensure safe food for consumers in the public interest.
