The closing and award distribution ceremony of the Journalist Football Tournament 2025 under the overall management of the Chittagong Reporters Forum was held at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday.

Member Secretary of Chittagong Press Club Zahidul Kabir Kochi inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest and enjoyed the football match with the participation of journalists. In the afternoon, President of Reporters Forum Kazi Mansur distributed awards among the winners.

More than fifty news workers from various print and electronic media working in Chittagong and members of various titles from other newspapers were present at the time.

Team Sampan defeated Team Karnaphuli 1-0 in the final match and won the title of champion of the competition.

It is mentioned that four teams participated in the morning in two groups in a knockout system. The game between Team Karnaphuli and Team Halda ended in a 1-1 draw. Golam Mawla Murad and Monirul Islam Parvez scored a goal for Team Halda and Karnaphuli respectively, but the game remained undecided in the stipulated time. Later, a tense situation arose. When all the penalty shots failed to score, Monirul Islam Parvez scored the only goal in the try breaker in the one-shot out, and Team Karnaphuli advanced to the final. In the next match, Team Sampan defeated Team Sangu 2-0 and reached the final. Subal Barua and Rafiq Haider scored a goal each and Team Sampan advanced to the final.

In the final match, Team Sampan defeated Team Karnaphuli 1-0 with a goal by Rafiq Haider and became the undefeated champion. The game was directed by former FIFA referee Abdul Hannan Miron. Chittagong City Corporation doctor Hosne Ara Begum provided overall support as the medical team.
More than fifty journalists working in Chittagong participated in the journalist football tournament.
