Anti-drug rally, awareness sticking campaign in Pirojpur

To accelerate the social movement against drug abuse and heighten public awareness, an anti-drug march and awareness sticker-posting campaign was successfully organized in Pirojpur.
On Sunday morning at 9:00 AM, the procession commenced from in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s bungalow, organized by the social initiative "Anti-Drug Social Movement" with the active collaboration of the district administration. Led by Deputy Commissioner Abu Sayed, the rally traversed key thoroughfares across the town, passing by prominent educational institutions including the Government Boys' High School, Town Secondary School, Karimunnesa Girls' Secondary School, Government Girls' High School, and Government Mohila College. During the march, participants affixed anti-drug awareness stickers on educational institutions, local shops, and various business establishments. Students from diverse academic institutions, alongside representatives from social, cultural, and professional organizations, actively participated in the program.
Key figures present during the event included Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid; Md. Moniruzzaman Nasim Ali, Convener of the Anti-Drug Social Movement and senior journalist; Professor Md. Shah Alam, Chief Coordinator; Principal Hosneara Jesmin, Member; Sergeant (Retd.) Md. Habibur Rahman, Joint Convener and District General Secretary of the Retired Armed Forces Council; Lecturer Md. Lutfor Rahman; Khalid Abu, President of the Udichi Shilpigosthi District Council and journalist; Mehedi Hasan, Vice President of the Pirojpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Zubaer Al Mamun, General Secretary of Positive Pirojpur and journalist; and Hasan Mamun, District President of the National Journalists Association, alongside various other prominent local personalities.
During the course of the campaign, the Deputy Commissioner directed the immediate removal of construction materials and furniture illegally placed along the city's sidewalks. Furthermore, he issued strict instructions to local business owners prohibiting the sale of cigarettes or other tobacco products to students under the age of 18 and minors, urging strict compliance with existing laws.
Speakers at the event observed that drug addiction represents a severe social menace threatening the youth and the nation's future generations. They emphasized that protecting society requires integrated efforts among families, educational institutions, socio-cultural organizations, public representatives, law enforcement agencies, and the administration, alongside the active participation of people from all walks of life.
