Teacher accused of drawing salary without attending school in Galachipa

Galachipa (Patuakhali) Correspondent

Allegations have emerged against Rina Parvin, an assistant teacher (librarian) at Guabaria AB Girls’ Secondary School in Galachipa, Patuakhali, for drawing government MPO salary and allowances despite remaining absent from school for an extended period.

Rina Parvin, who is the wife of the school's Headmaster Mosharraf Hossain, was appointed in 2013 and enrolled under the MPO scheme in 2017. Students and school staff, speaking on condition of anonymity, alleged that she has rarely attended classes since her MPO enrollment, though her signatures regularly appear in the attendance register. Locals noted that CCTV footage would easily confirm her absence and suggested that no one speaks out due to her relation to the headmaster.

An official at the Galachipa Secondary Education Office admitted being aware of the issue for years, claiming successive education officers were informed without any action taken. When contacted, Rina Parvin hung up on a reporter, while Headmaster Mosharraf Hossain declined to comment, stating he was "not mentally prepared."

Galachipa Secondary Education Officer (Additional Charge) Md. Shahidul Islam said, the education office cannot act directly against private school staff and can only notify higher authorities, leaving primary oversight to the school's managing committee.

Local residents have demanded an official investigation into attendance registers, salary records, and CCTV footage, urging departmental action if the allegations are proven true.
