
Spring Festival celebrated at DU

The Spring Festival was celebrated at the Student-Teacher Center on Monday at the initiative of Dhaka University Cultural Society.
Various programs including a colourful rally, rural folk fair, puppet dance, bioscope exhibition, presentation of meritorious persons and discussion meeting were organized on the occasion. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the discussion meeting.
The discussion meeting was chaired by moderator of Dhaka University Cultural Society Dr. Rasheda Rawnak Khan, and Honorary Prof of the Department of Oriental Arts, Dhaka University Dr. Md. Abdus Sattar spoke as the main discussant. Filmmaker Gias Uddin Selim, actor and dancer Sadia Islam Mou and musician Kazi Krishnakoli Islam were presented with meritorious persons at the event. Organization's president Nafia Farzana Amiya expressed her vote of thanks. General Secretary Rawnak Jahan Rakamani conducted it.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, referring to cultural festivals as part of our heritage, said that such festivals can play a helpful role in uniting everyone. He said that we are currently going through a transitional period.
The popular band 'Bioscope' and the singing group 'Krishnakoli' performed music at the festival.
