Seminar on art conservation at DU Faculty of Fine Arts held

A seminar titled ' Conservation of Art: Necessity. Challenges. Prospects in Bangladesh ' was held at Osman Jamal Auditorium on Tuesday at the initiative of the Department of Oriental Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University. Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam spoke as the chief guest at the seminar.
The seminar was chaired by the Chairman of the Department of Oriental Arts, Mr. Gopal Chandra Trivedi. Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Professor Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh and Honorary Professor of the Department of Oriental Arts, Dr. Abdus Sattar were present as special guests. The keynote address was presented by Gazi Md. Zahirul Islam, a part-time teacher of the department.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam said that with the economic development of the country, people's interest in art and culture is increasing. Therefore, the importance of preserving artworks must be understood. If proper preservation of artworks is not ensured, there is a danger that the nation's priceless artistic assets will be lost to time.
