‎With the theme “Beautify the country with tree plantation, Bangladesh first”, a day-long tree plantation programme was held at Curzon Hall area on Monday. Al-Arafah Islami Bank organized this program in collaboration with Dhaka University Environment Society and Arboriculture Center.

The event was chaired by Al-Arafah Islami Bank Managing Director and CEO Md. Rafat Ullah Khan with former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr. S. M. A. Fayez as the chief guest and Dean of the Faculty of Biology Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment Professor Dr. A. H. M. Zulfiqar Ali, Director of the Arboriculture Center Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin and Deputy Managing Director of Al-Arafah Bank Md. Fazlur Rahman Chowdhury speaking as special guests. In addition, Professor Dr. Afroz Sultana Chamon of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment, Professor Dr. Md. Jasim Uddin, Prof Dr. Md. Nadiruzzaman Mondal and General Secretary of the Environment Parliament Rashed Kamal Anik were present.

The speakers emphasized the importance of tree plantation to maintain environmental balance, combat the adverse effects of climate change, conserve biodiversity, and build a green and livable Bangladesh. They said tree plantation is not just an initiative to protect the environment; it is also a social responsibility to ensure a sustainable and safe world for future generations.

As part of the program, tree saplings were distributed among representatives of various halls including Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall, Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, Amar Ekushey Hall, Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall, Rokeya Hall, Haji Muhammad Muhsin Hall and Sir A.F. Rahman Hall.
