Scientific in Prevention of Cervical Cancer’ held in Rangpur

A scientific seminar on ‘Do’s and Progress in Prevention of Cervical Cancer’ was held in Rangpur Prime Medical College Auditorium on Tuesday.

The seminar, organized by the Obstetric and Gynecological Society of Bangladesh-OGSB, was attended by the chief guest, Professor Dr. Nur Islam, Principal of Prime Medical College. Chaired by OGSB Rangpur President Professor Dr. Shahi Farzana Tasmin, the seminar was addressed by, among others, former President of OGSB Professor Dr. Azizul Islam, Director of Prime Medical College Hospital Professor Retired Brigadier General Golam Rasul, Professor Laila Husna Banu, Professor Ferdousi Sultanas and Professor Sharmin Sultana Lucky.

It was informed in the seminar that 50 million women in the country are at risk of cervical cancer. To overcome this, women aged 9 to 20 years should take 1 or 2 doses of cervical cancer vaccine and women aged 21 to 45 years should take 2 doses. Along with this, regular screening of women was emphasized to prevent cervical cancer. The seminar emphasized on awareness to make Bangladesh free from cervical cancer by 2030. Expert doctors and nurses were present at the seminar on the occasion of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Then the vaccination program to prevent cervical cancer was inaugurated.
