A new office of Reporters Unity has been inaugurated in Baghaichhari, Rangamati at 11:00 am on Monday in Baitush Sharaf Market, located on Chowmuhani College Road.

The new office of Reporters Unity was inaugurated by cutting a ribbon in the presence of guests, journalists and local dignitaries.

The programme was chaired by Md. Hasan Ali, President of Reporters Unity, and conducted by Md. Imran Hossain, General Secretary.

Speakers at the event said that, as a responsible and professional journalists’ organisation, Reporters Unity would play an important role in voicing the concerns of the people of Baghaichhari and highlighting the area’s problems, prospects, development activities and public sufferings in an appropriate manner.

The speakers further said that journalism is not limited to publishing news; highlighting social irregularities, inconsistencies and matters of public interest responsibly is also an important duty of journalists.

The speakers expressed hope that the new office of Reporters Unity would further strengthen the professional activities of journalists in Baghaichhari and enable the organisation to play an effective role in serving the interests of the local community.

The chief guest at the programme was Alhaj Md. Nizam Uddin Babu, President of Baghaichhari Poura BNP. The chief speaker was Md. Omar Ali, President of Upazila BNP.

Special guests were Javedul Alam Javed, General Secretary of Upazila BNP; Abul Kalam Azad, Senior Vice-President of Upazila BNP; Mawlana Kabir Ahmed, Ameer of Upazila Jamaat; and former Vice-Chairman Abdul Qayyum. Journalists from various print and electronic media outlets, along with local dignitaries.
